Goodwill Children’s Homes

In the year 1972, a couple from England, schoolteachers founded this organization “Goodwill Homes Charitable Society” at Thandigudi, a village in Kodaikanal Taluk of Dindigul District in Tamil Nadu.

This home was started with 16 children but grew into an institution catering to the needs of 400 children now. They are either orphans or drawn from single parent poor households. Many of them are from the local Kodaikanal Paliyar/Pulayar tribal families.

This charitable organization recognized by the Department of Social welfare, Government of Tamilnadu is aimed at educating them to achieve a higher level in their living through education and hard work.

The children studying from 1st to 5th standard are residing at the Thandigudi campus for their education at Goodwill Residential Primary School, where they are offered excellent education and opportunities to grow with self confidence and discipline.

The girl children completing 5th standard are shifted to The Goodwill home at Pattiveeranpatti, exclusively for girls, and attend one of the outstanding Girls High Schools in Dindigul District, and complete their 12th standard.

The boys from 6th standard to 12th standard are housed in The Goodwill home campus at Sanarpatti to continue their education at the Govt. Higher Secondary School at Sanarpatti, Dindigul District.

Goodwill is proud to state that all the children who have passed out 12th standard with merit will continue their higher education, some in arts colleges and others in professional courses like Engineering and Nursing.

The Goodwill Industrial Training School, an industrial training school run by the organization, and recognized by the Government of Tamilnadu absorbs boys and girls after class 10, depending upon their aptitude. These trained boys and girls are awarded Govt. certificates and are placed in leading industries and earn decent salaries.

They have earned good reputations in their places of work and have thus paved way for regular appointments of our ITI students by organization through campus selection.
